News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

Fridays are far from typical at the St Saviour’s Schools in Bath, with the Nursery, Infant and Junior Schools introducing Funday Fridays to their weekly schedules.

Funday Fridays are the idea of Executive Headteacher, Joe Beament, and are designed to be a day of celebration and fun, and a chance to commend the learning ‘moments’ that happen every day at St Saviour’s Schools. “A typical ‘Funday Friday’ starts with celebration assemblies in both schools, where children, staff and families come together to sing, share achievements from outside of school and celebrate great learning,” explained Joe.

“Children who have demonstrated the school values and Caring Code are nominated and recognised with ‘Learning to Learn’ certificates and ‘Dojo Awards’. Lessons then continue as normal, while I check through the staff’s Funday Friday nominations and either invites children to join me for a hot chocolate, or to work with them to write and post a Positive Postcard to their parents to share the great news.”

As one Year 2 child added, “I really enjoy school, it’s fun… Last week I worked really hard to finish some work that I found tricky. I was really proud of myself and when my Positive Postcard arrived, my mum was proud too!”

Mr Beament explains why Funday Fridays are so exciting and important for the schools.

“Every day is full of great moments, wonderful effort, achievements and children following The Caring Code and Junior School Values,” added Joe. “We really wanted to celebrate this together as a community and show the children that the little things they do every day are so important to their development and we are proud of them.
